Positive Masculinity (Fellas, is it gay to treat your lady like an Empress?)
I think my cards finally decided to give y’all a break from the constant suggestions to work, work, work, improve, improve, improve and just give you a nice vision of what a pleasant, balanced world might look like, where each of the pieces supports the others.
Today’s draw
The Knight of Cups
The Sun
The Empress
The Hanged Man
The Knight of Pentacles
Deck
Rider-Smith-Waite
At the center sits the Empress, secure and content on her throne, surrounded by various consorts supporting her and balancing one another. There is the romantic, charming, charismatic knight of cups who understands the art of love. He is neither hasty nor clumsy, but dedicated, loyal, and sincere in his affections. He is balanced by the knight of pentacles, who, while not sweeping anyone off their feet with his romantic gestures, is equally dedicated, loyal, and sincere. He offers the steadiness of hard work, security, and comfort and he does so gladly and without complaint.
The Empress also appreciates her men with some spiritual depth and seriousness, but balanced by the joyful playfulness of the child in the sun. Let’s be honest: nobody wants a dour Puritan who sucks the joy and beauty from the brief time we have in the world, but nor do they want a grown man-child who must be tended to as if a toddler. The Empress looks for partners who can keep one foot in the spiritual plane and one foot in the physical at the same time, who know when to be romantic and when to be steady, and who know when to be playful and when to act like grown-ups. In exchange, the Empress offers her partners an abundant generosity, spiritual wisdom and intuitive insight, a sharp and creative mind, compassion, and a steady well of power and support.
