Research Services Inquiry
Here at Dr. Turner’s, we never cease to be delighted at the range of questions and types of research that people come to us with. A student searching for personal correspondence from a prophet. A miner asking for a digitized copy of a 17th century Icelandic grimoire held in an exclusive archive. A foraging enthusiast curious about historical herbal medicines. A professional historian wanting lists of grants from the National Institutes of Mental Health. Questions about the science of hot and cold drinks and the temperance movement in 18th century America. A fellow researcher looking for a rare first edition text about the history of corsets.
Whether you need research assistance because you don’t know where to start, don’t have the time to make an archival visit yourself, or you’re looking for someone with access to specialized databases, why not reach out to see if our services are right for you? As a professionally trained historian with a PhD in the History of Science from Harvard University, Dr. Turner has proven experience working with a wide range of historical materials, including archival holdings, cultural ephemera, films, government documents, historical scientific literature, and oral histories. His work has engaged archives across the United States, including government, academic, local, and privately held collections. Just a few examples of the types of historical work that are available for clients include:
Archival research
Bibliographic services
Manuscript digitization
Literature reviews
Source discovery
But don’t take our word for it. Clients and colleagues have raved about our research.
Ready to get started? Just reach out with an inquiry detailing what kind of work you’re interested in, where you are in your own research process, and a preferred timeline and budget for the work. If the project seems feasible and our availabilities align, we will follow up to schedule a one hour in-person or online consultation. If everyone agrees to move forward, Dr. Turner’s will send you a proposal. On acceptance of the proposal, we will finalize a contract so that work can proceed.
Rates are industry standard but differ depending on the type of work requested (e.g. if travel will be involved or if the project is particularly lengthy). Please indicate if you are a student or otherwise experiencing financial hardship.
